Types of Acne: An Overview

Dermatologist, while talking about the types of acne state that there are four types or Grades into which this disease can be classified. Determining the form of acne that one is suffering from is very crucial to the treatment of that person as type determines the treatment. In majority of cases the determination of acne type is done by a simple visual examination of the affected skin by the dermatologist.

The following are the four types of acne:

Grade I
Among all the grades of acne Grade I is the mildest form of. In this form of the disease minor pimples which are small in size appear and that too very occasionally and less in number). Apart from that there can be blackhead in the skin and that too in large numbers. However in Grade I type of acne there will not be an inflammation of the affected skin. This type of acne generally appear in the nose or on forehead
Grade I acne can be treated successfully as there are many over the counter drugs available in the market. The best result can be found if acne is treated in the initial stages of its occurrence. If treated late it may lead to Grade II type.
Grade II
This type of acne is considered as Grade II is considered modest acne. Here there will be bleakheads and milla and that too in greater number then in Grade I. Along with that the patient may experience more papules and the formation of pustules in this stage. Slight inflammation of the skin may also take place.

Acne occurs in all age

Grade II acne can also be treated successfully and that too at home. In this case too over the counter drugs containing salicylic acid, benzyl peroxide is used. Moreover lotions specifically made for Grade II acne should be applied regularly in the affected areas to avoid bacterial infections. However, if ,in spite of using the medicines, the symptoms persist, then it is always advisable to make an appointment with your dermatologist.
Grade III
Grade III acne is a serious problem and should be dealt with carefully present. In this type skin inflammation increases considerably. Along with that you will also notice Papules and pustules in increased numbers.
In Grade III the affected are will not be restricted to the face only. It will spread to the neck, chest, and shoulders and in some instances upper back as well. Moreover there are increased chances of scarring.
In this type of acne one should take the advice of a dermatologist. Generally the doctor will treat Grade III acne with both topical and systemic therapies available only by prescription.
Grade IV
This form of acne is considered to be the most dangerous form of this disease .In this stage the affected skin areas will display numerous papules, pustules, and nodules. Also there is a very high amount of inflammation involved. Grade IV acne can be very painful and difficult for the patient.
Grade IV acne requires immediate and regular medical help. This is because it may sometimes go out of control if not treated properly and at the right moment.
At the end it can be said that no matter what the type of acne one may suffer from, timely and proper treatment is very essential. Otherwise it may lead to severe problems in future.
