Physicians always recommend the pregnant women to limit the caffeine intake because it has adverse effects on babies as well as mother. Here are a few risk involved with high caffeine intake.
Miscarriage
Women who take more cups of coffee a day are at higher risk of miscarriage than the women who limits the coffee intake. Also, it is also found that more amount of coffee intake can be the reason for premature baby or low weight baby or early labor.
Risk for Babies
When a pregnant woman consumes more coffee, then her baby also does the same. It is because caffeine has the ability to cross the placenta and enter into the baby system. Low amount of caffeine does not harm baby, but higher amount increases the fetal heart rate and even reduces the blood flow across the placenta.
Stillbirth
Women who drink more than four cups of coffee a day are at higher risk of delivering stillborn babies. No parents wish to have such a tragedy.
Boy babies with Undescended Testicles
Some clinical studies have shown that a pregnant woman who takes more caffeine and carrying a boy may give birth to a boy baby with undescended testicles.
Low Iron in Blood Stream
High intake caffeine can actually reduce the amount of iron in the mothers blood stream. Finally, it leads to anemia, dizziness, extreme fatigue, and shortness of the breath. Iron is the necessary component for the pregnant women to support themselves and the baby.
To stay healthier and to give birth to a healthy baby, it is strongly recommended that the pregnant women should restrict the amount of caffeine intake.
